What age should hand raised budgies be put in a temperature controlled cage padded with towels and with thick secured perches resting on top of the towels with small pellet scattered on them? Most of the time I do this at three and a half weeks and it turns out well. Is this what I should be doing? Just wondering what other people think about this, they eat lafebers instant nutristart every three hours and the pellets are zupreem fruitblend parakeet. The babies perch well even on thinner perches. I am a breeder with thriving healthy babies where six out of seven babies in this clutch survived and all hatched.

I'm really not qualified in this area, but, success is usually a good indicator that things are going the right way. How are you giving the pellets to the birds? Most babies are just given baby food, so, I'd like to know more about what you're doing with those.

I am sprinkling crushed pellet on the bottom of the cage and in a small bowl so if they are interested they can nibble and learn about the food so that they can wean more easily they are fed baby bird formula and occasional boiled mashed carrots mixed in.
