I know we just adopted our new baby yesterday but she must be very scared she stays in one corner of her cage and never moves,I took her out of her cage for about 20 minutes today to get pics and to sit with her she seemed to like to get scritches and be cuddled  then she jumped off and took off  also I had to work tonight and hubby said she did eat some veggies , when I work afternoon shift he always feeds the birds their dinner but he didn't see her drink any water

I hope she will relax soon

When my friends and I go to lunch with our birds I'm always amazed at how few of them want water. Often they get their water from the food that they eat. Fresh fruits and vegetables often contain enough water to keep a bird content. You may never see your bird drink water. Often they drink when we aren't watching. I don't know why. I do know that a bird cannot go more than 24 hours without water.

New birds often need a couple of days to adjust to their new surroundings. Just go about your business as usual for the first few days. Then you can play a little music and sit by the cage and read a book or talk to your new bird. You have to start that new "Trust Account" with your new bird. Go at the birds pace. Let things happen. Don't make things happen. Ringnecks are great birds. You're going to have fun!

If she's quiet and reserved, you might want to put her in a quiet corner or partially cover the cage - at least until she settles in better! And watch her droppings! Those will tell her if she's eating or drinking much!

I guess she is relaxing more I seen her eating today and she is suppose to be water bottle trained but she has not gone near her water bottle , I filled one of her bowls with some water and she was drinking from her bowl and she also decided to take a little bath in it afterwards  then she headed right back to top perch and their is a toy their she was playing with , I put some white paper towels on the bottom of her cage to check her poop tomorrow morning it's hard to tell on newspaper , I'am going to offer her a few treats tomorrow just to see if she will take them

and she does like scritches and cuddles , I cuddled with her for 45 minutes today , she likes a nice soft towel over her then lots of scritches :)

She's not too uptight, she took a bath. Things are going to be just fine.

K&T Dad... I think things are on the right path also. Sometimes takes a while for these guys to get settled in. Ringnecks are on the skittish side so as Monica suggested having their living quarters in a corner or having at least one wall is good as so they are not feeling exposed and vulnerable.

We had a ringneck for three years, and she never quite go the hang of a water bottle. Always drank from a bowl. We had to change the water several times a day because she also liked to make soup.

Also loved scritches and cuddling.

And those jingle balls they sell for cats. She would get down on the floor and roll them right to our hand so we could roll it back, repreatedly.
