I'm looking for an unexpensive plane that is easy to be flown alone. I'm not ready to buy it yet. I'm just looking for advice. What would be the best type of plane for my need? I'm going a long distance with it and I want to keep it after I get there, so I need something that's safe and will last a long time.

I think that you should get a paper airplane. They're cheap, easy to fly, really low fuel cost, easy to store, and fun to fly. Yes, all of my advise is for the birds. Really!

That's silly! But I do like paper airplanes. When I was a child, I always had one. When I think no one's looking, I still make them. I guess flying has just been a lifelong wish. I could just get a plane ticket like everyone else, but that doesn't sound very interesting. My grandfather flew a plane. I wonder what happened to that one. I guess it was sold before I was born, if it was his at all. I know that he was in World War II, but I thought my dad said that his dad would take him and my uncles (his brothers) for flights when they were children.

I just something need something that can comfortably fit a want-to-be pilot (by then I'll be more than that!) and her two feline companions. And most of all, that I can take my cats safely to our destination.

This is an avian forum but not avian in aviation. Avian in avian animals. I don't think Golden Eagles are large enough to carry people.

Hello Space Mom, I think your best bet would be a helicopter. You can
get a two seater which would have enough room for you & your cats.
Also you wont have the expense of a runway & the're handy for shopping etc. Yours B.J.

I don't mean to be rude but, why did you choose a bird forum to ask this? Why not an aviation forum (unless you're not talking about what I think you are, if so please excuse me). Here's one that has nothing to do with anything avian and is all about what I think you're talking about.

The forum does say non-bird talk and I didn't know about aviation forums, so I went with what was familiar. I'll check out the website. Thanks for the information.

It just so happens I'm a pilot and aircraft owner.
Right now a Cessna 152 can be had for a little of nothing.
They're solid and have a great record.
I personally like Beechcraft as they're structurally stronger than a Cessna.
They won't fold up and cut your feet off above the ankles in a crash.

The 152 and 172 are the most forgiving at the controls where the Beech is light and really quick on the controls.
