Just visited a little run down pet store, wich I do from time to time to see how they treat/handle birds, and today there is a pair of parrots recently given up by some idiot. One is a blue-crowned conure the other is a blue fronted amazon, the store owner says the conure is 10yrs and the amazon is 15yrs, they are in seperate, round, ancient, ornate cages but have 'been' with each other forever. Too bad the silly pet shop owner doesn't inquire about second hand birds pasts, what a doosh.

Anyway, Teco the amazon (pronounced Tea-co), is adorable! He/she stayed quiet for the 3min I was looking at him, but he warmed up very quickly and started to chatter, whistle, sing, make amazonian noises and climbed around the cage for me and started to play with toys and act crazy silly on his old swing. He seems to love to swing just as much as cockatoos! Very vigorous swingn' bird! (we got a little loud in the shop too...I must have looked crazy). I was told that he was talking up a storm for a tall black male in the shop a little earlier too, so this sounds like a very interested bird that should get along with everyone, not too typical of a 'zon right? Expecially one that is 15 years old! What a sweetie of a bird.

But poor Teco seems unsure of hands! Faces are great, but fingers she needs to be cautious of. Wich is fine really, I've trained parrots and my mouse to become confidant around hands, so some + rein will make this bird perfect.

His feathers are odly soft and thin though, very, very, soft for being an amazon that is. And I'm not sure about her wieght, her breast was protruding out a bit and her abdomen was fluffed. Still, If I was allowed to keep a larger bird I would take Teco... I thought I should share this special gem with you guys, I think she would be a perfect candidate for free flight, *sigh* I <3 amazons
