Hey everyone,

When I converted my birds to pellets I put them on Harrison's adult lifetime formula. I was just on the website and it says that bird who are converted to pellets should be put on their high potency diet for abuot six months. I have a bag of the adult formula but should I buy the high potency formula instead and keep them on that and then switch back? I posted the website so you guys can see it.

"FOR USE IN BIRDS• that are being converted from seeds or any other diet. Birds should initially be fed High Potency Formula for a period of at least 6 months."

How long have you had them on the formula you have them on now?  It sounded like that unless you are feeding it to the types of birds they listed, when you first change over from seed to pellets they want you to use this formula.  My guess is that it is higher in protein and fat contents.  They probably want to make sure your bird doesn't loose weight in the conversion process.  I'm guessing they figure 6 months is a long enough time to make sure they have adapted well and then, basically you change to a maintenance formula for any other species they didn't list.  What type of birds were you feeding?

As long as your birds are not any of the species that are mentioned in the section, “Recommended use” you’ll be fine with feeding the Adult Lifetime Formula . . . at least as long as they are eating enough of it to maintain their energy level and weight.

Hey guys I am so sorry its taken me forever to respond. The semester is almost over so my work load is rapidly increasing as we get closer to finals.

I have been feeding my Great billed parrot the Harrisons diet for about four months now and I have had my yellow nape on it for about two. They have always been on zupreem but when i took Dugan to the vet she told me to keep him on Harrisons bc zupreem was high in sugar. So i have had him on it ever since and i just recently converted my yellow nape.
