Sydney the Harlequin has gone home to be with Suzan. She was her original owner and I was so blessed to have her as my friend.Sydney joined me 3 1/2 years ago it was a rocky start at the beginning but over the years we grew on each other and got really close she even started to get along with the rest of the flock which we thought would never happen.Just 2 months ago we said good bye to her first mom Suzan.I never thought shortly after we would be saying good bye to Sydney.Sydney was only 11 years old too young to have left us so soon.I recieved part of the necropsy findings but it was done so unprofessionally and without concern through a voicemail. The part that I did understand said something about a tumor the rest was gibberish to me.It was bad enough I lost her but the way the results were delivered will never be forgotten.

Mostly rescued,rehomes and some purchased

Hi marcia ,

yes as a former vet tech they certainly should not have left the results of the neocropsy on your voice mail . How dare they do something so unproffesional . Now I hope your heart heals soon .

Cathy

K&T Dad... I am very sorry to hear of your loss! The unprofessional reply can only add to the pain you are going trough. It just goes to show that I think many in the pet field still don't take birds seriously enough. Our birds are just as important to us, as dogs are to others.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Sydney. The loss of any bird under our care is difficult and after sharing in your life for three and one-half years I’m sure you had quite a relationship with her.
I do not know what was said or how it was said that you feel the message you received, “was done so unprofessionally and without concern through a voicemail”. If they were sharing with you the information that Sydney had passed, then a voicemail message would be inappropriate and simply wrong. The message they left for you was the result of a necropsy that you had to request. Often a necropsy is done to determine if the cause of the death was a contagious pathogen or other danger to additional birds in a home. This is information you would want to know as quickly as possible and deal with for the health and safety of your other birds if warranted.
The bottom line is that you were not pleased by the manner the message was left for you and I am sorry for any discomfort this message caused for you.
