I'd probably choose either a blue fronted amazon... or the sky blue mutation of the yellow naped. Those are really beautiful, even though I've only ever seen photos. Has anyone else seen photos of these birds?

We have the sweetest blue front amazon (Freddie) in the world! We got her from a refuge 2 years ago. She has arthritis of her hips and some sight problems. She never bites, only growls and gently pushes your finger away if she doesn't want to do what you ask (but will do it if pushed). I know that she is unique in her gentleness but it makes me think that like people birds are all individuals. Our african grey (Captain Flint) whom we have had for 16 years is a bit more of a challenge at times. He is also gentle, but noone except us can pick him up and perhaps once a year we get a bite from him. He also is a feather picker (even though he is happy and out lots and entertained etc. - whole nother issue) which is a constant challenge for us. Each species has their differences, but I think that they are all individuals. It is important to learn to read their signals and understand them.
Owned by Captain Flint (CAG)Freddie (BFA) & Sunny Jim (lovebird)
