My oldest sister sent these to me. I thought they would be good for a laugh.

1. Law of Mechanical Repair - After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch & you'll have to pee.

2. Law of Gravity - Any tool, nut, bolt, screw, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.

3. Law of Probability -The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

4. Law of Random Numbers - If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal & someone always answers.

5. Law of the Alibi - If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning you will have a flat tire.

6. Variation Law - If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will always move faster than the one you are in now (works every time).

7. Law of the Bath - When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

8. Law of Close Encounters -The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

9. Law of the Result - When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

10. Law of Biomechanics - The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

11.. Law of the Theater & Hockey Arena - At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle, always arrive last. They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, beer, or the toilet & who leave early before the end of the performance or the game is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never move once, have long gangly legs or big bellies & stay to the bitter end of the performance. The aisle people also are very surly folk.

12. The Coffee Law - As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

13. Murphy's Law of Lockers - If there are only 2 people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.

14. Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jelly sandwich landing face down on a floor, are directly correlated to the newness & cost of the carpet or rug.

15. Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

16. Brown's Law of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.

18. Wilson's Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.

19. Doctors' Law - If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better.. But don't make an appointment, and you'll stay sick.

Butte Humane Society

I volunteer in Butte Humane Society and notice that the staff don't care about working or taking care of the animals in their care. They get paid and just sit at the front desk and check their email or browse online. When I started volunteer non of the staff members helped me with question I had about equipment used to clean the kennels. I remember them just glaring at me without saying anything. It's funny how the coordinators told us volunteers to not be afraid to talk to staff and get to know one another. Yeah, I guess I'm sad to say that I'm definitely disappointed about my local Humane Society and probably with other Humane Societies and animal shelters.

I just had to tell you this about my dog.
I use a CPAP machine when I sleep ( it is to provide air to people with sleep apnea so they don't stop breathing while sleeping)
I was going to lay down and take a little nap, so I turned on the machine, hooked the hose up to my face and fell quickly to sleep. I woke up suddenly not able to breath very well. My dog was standing with his feet up on the bed side table and had his paw on the controls. He turned it off! He had figured out that when I turn it on, I go to sleep and when I turn it off I get up, but I didn't know that he would figure out that he could control it. too. When I got up, he joyfully ran to the back door so he could chase little critters.
So now, I suppose when he wants to get up early he will stop staring at my husband till he bores holes in his back and will just start offering to suffocate me.
I'm gonna' have to sick the bird on him. she may be the only member of this household who is smarter than he is.

Pets section on Craigslist

I don't understand the people on Craigslist selling birds, cats, dogs, and reptiles even thou they are calling it "re-homing fee or adoption fee". They always say need to go to a good home because they have no time for the animal. Why did they get it in the first place. I've been looking for a job on craigslist and when no luck I have a tendency of looking in the pets section (yes i admit I'm looking to another parrot but also for a dog). I very few posting where people are genuinely want their pets to go to a better home. Majority of others just want to make a quick buck.

what kind of movies do you watch with your birds???

I love scarrey movies and the birds seem to like them too...but most of all I think my fids like pauley alot they get really excited when we watch survivor or big brother, what kind of movies/t.v shows do you and your birds like to watch together????

K&T Dad... We here in Buffalo have been getting socked the last few days. First it was a night long wind storm that took down half of one of our trees then today a blizzard that has up to a foot of snow and another foot by tomorrow! Nothing new and welcome to the armpit of the country! Me and the wife stupidly went out for some errands and I decided to take some photos.

How to include a link in a post

Including a link (more properly called a hyperlink) in a post so that other members or visitors may click on the link and go to the new site is a simple procedure.

Let's say I wanted to provide a link to the home page of the BirdChannel web site. I would copy and paste the site's URL:

Doing this does not make it a link. To make it a link, after pasting the URL highlight it. Then, to the left of the message box you will see a box labeled "IFCode Shortcuts". In this box click "[url][/url]" and you will make a clickable link in your post similar to the link below:

http://www.birdchannel.com/

I hope this will help members provide usable links in their posts.

There are two other methods to create a link, but I prefer this method because it works on all operating systems and opens the linked site in a new window instead of replacing the previous site with the new site in the same window.

Bird Talk Renewal Scam!

Going through my mail I noticed a blank envelope with my name on it. Thinking that was strange I opened the envelope and it was a Notice of Renewal/New Order from a company called "Publisher's Billing Exchange" for Bird Talk. Last week I had sent off my two year renewal but just before I tossed the paper I noticed it said "$49.88" for a ONE YEAR subscription! I was like holy moley! That's insanity. I know for a fact I paid $24 for a two year renewal of BT!

So I googled the company- yeah they are a TOTAL scam! So if your BT is up for renewal and you get this crazy "notice of renewal" toss it out! They are a total scam. These people just take your money and you don't get your subscription renewed either according to people online!

Just thought I'd let you all know. :)

skittles bit my finger right at the joint where it joins my hand. she didnt break the skin at all but it zinged the nerve all the way to my elbow. and i still have no feeling in the tip. i dont think its broke, it moves fine, could she have crushed a nerve or something? it doesn't hurt at all. it doesn't feel anything. im not even sure what set her off. we were doing our nite nite ritual and she just squwaked and latched on. my son said "mom you really are very patient with these birds" cause i didn't get mad at her. i told him she's just being a bird. i did, however, get her off me pretty quick! lol! (no "i told you so" 's please, lol) i still dont know how she managed to get just my ring finger in her mouth. it happened like lightning.

any one know about fish???

My fancy gold fish is acting real weird he will swim around and then he goes up to the top and sticks his belly up out of the water and then he'll swim back to the bottom again he has been doing it for 3 or 4 days at first I thought he was dying but he is still eating and he will be swimming around and all of a sudden floats up to the top of the tank and he sticks his belly out in the air my bf says his tummy looks more extended but I just cant tell any one know is he just having a long drawn out death I just dont know HELP HELP HELP

went to gatornatiionals this weekend. (NHRA DRAGRACING). it was amazing! i have gone every year for the last 12 years. its still the highlight of my year. the raw power of the cars is tremendous. and some of the pro mod are just beautiful cars.

i was browsing the topics and noticed, i have started quite a few topics. so, do i post too much? i've always been pretty chatty in person. and if someone will let me talk about the birds they're lucky to get a word in edgewise. this is where i go when the birds are resting or eating or gone to bed for the nite. so i'm here several times a day usually. idk, i just don't want to monopolize the board, lol!

Living in the Desert

Just wanted to show some pictures... the first will give you an idea of what the "uncivilized" areas of the desert are like... a lot of brush! Picture was actually taken part way up a mountain, but you get the idea!

And with winter comes snow! The snow can get so bad here, that every few miles, there's a car on the side of the road! With snow, that's a guaranteed factor here... Although Friday night, there was a one car wreck, an SUV that was flipped over, and no clue why, considering the roads were clear. Not more than a mile or two away, two cars were pulled over on the side of the road, and a little further along, there was a fire truck. Saturday morning, after it had snowed again, we were heading into town, almost to work trying to get off at an off-ramp, and our car was fish-tailing, since the snow plows hadn't had a chance to clear off the highway yet. So with the lovely winter landscapes we may have, also comes danger! Without further ado, some snow pics!

Which, btw, I should add, this isn't very far from the California border, where-in it snows even more!!!!

Okay I live in the North west so as some of you may know there has been windstorms lately.Well the other day the wind blew our birdhouse down from the tree since it was already down I thought it would be cool to check if there were any nests in it from earlier in the spring I looked and it turns out there was one!I started taking out the old nest and it was just all moss and fur..............Turns out........There was a egg in it!I'm really upset because I really didn't want to disturb an egg nest but I can't put it back now.I seriously would NOT have disturbed the nest if I knew there was anything in it :-(.I have the egg under a light in a warm spot and I've been making sure that it stays warm.But I have no clue if it is alive or not....I think the nest could've been abandoned so I'm just taking care of it in the meantime to try and figure out.But anyways there's a little black spot on the end of the egg (The egg is REALLY small so is the door to the birdhouse so it's probably a finch or sparrow egg)Des the little black spot on the end mean it's dead?I know that's not coloring on the egg because the egg is white with light brown speckles but I really want to know if it's alive or not.Any help is greatly appreciated!

My cat turned 15 in august Ive had her since she was 6 weeks old I was noticing today the scruff of her neck is beginning to bald I never ever pick her up that way because I dont like to plus she is over weight and I think it would hurt her she is a medium length haired cat is this normal fopr them to bald like this??? She is the only cat I have ever had so I must be doing something right she still plays like a kitten and she is up to date on all vaccines so I know its not medical

Snow day in October?!

Morning everyone! Got up all bright and early today to get a phone call from our naighbor who drives for the local school bus company saying that buses are cancled for today. I can hardly believe it! Here we usually get a few different types of 'snow days' where a) it snowed ot much for the plows to get out and roads are closed (happens usually in January) b) it is to cold for the buses to start (this is more of a march thing) and c) it is snowing to hard for the bus drivers to see, which is what we got this morning. It has since calmed down, and we only have about 6 inchs of snow (which is a lot concidering there was no snow at all yesterday) and there is a light snow falling right now. Goonie is very much so liking the snowfall and the little wild birds he can see romping around in the snow. Bella, out st. bernard, is also loving playing outside with the local kids, Daisy the basset not so much! Hopfully this stuff stays, I hate when it snows and then melts and everything is wet And cold! And just to top it off, I'm missing my advanced functions class (which is probably cancled anyway, thank goodness!) which I need to get into University. School's getting pretty crazy, and then topped off with work to save up and keep the fids stocked for school is just bananas! Hope everyone else is having a good day!

So my daughter gets her kids a hamster. No problem. About a month ago she goes to feed her, and is shocked to see 4 little pink babies!

The guy that we get most of our pets from says he will take them when they are weaned. No problem.

Now guess what? WE can't part with them to send them to an uncertain future, so we are keeping them ALL! I TOOk the boys [I HOPE] and the girls can stay with mother hamster Fifi.

WE SPent approximately one hour trying to determine the sex of these guys, our expediency was fueled by information received today that the males could reproduce with the mother at 4 weeks old!

Mercy me, I HOPe we got the sexes right.

I said I WOULd never have another rodent...but they were soooo cute!

Here's my boys' [i hope] new digs, I call it the "Pink Fantasy House".

I NAMEd them "Rick and Bubba"

We found Pippin on a local rabbit rescue shelters website. We drove to the shelter to meet him in person last night and loved him on sight! He is sweet and friendly and fall-off-your-chair cute. He is coming home in a week after he has had his 'bits' fixed

We have decided to get our daughter a pet Bunny. We think we have found one called Buttons at a local rabbit rescue center.

Then!!! Like a flash of light it hit me!!! THIS MIGHT BE IT...the only chance to name something...anything Foo Foo The Snoo!

Sooo I asked my daughter, who is standing beside me at this moment if she wanted to name her bunny Foo Foo The Snoo. Do you know what she said? She laughed, waved her hand and said, "Nah, that's silly!"

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to those that I don't get to talk to very often anymore. *Waving crazily*

I am still around, I just have gotten really busy this summer with moving, and a job, and then school recently started back. I got an assistantship for this semester (and the rest of the time I am in school if I want it) to teach undergraduate biology laboratories to non-majoring freshmen. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying teaching thus far, and I am seriously considering teaching after getting my Master's Degree.

So, to Ladyhawke, Icky, Pepper's Pa, and others I don't talk to much anymore, I hope you guys are doing well!
